And so the adventure begins ...

And so the adventure begins ...

Alms Park, such a treasure in this beautiful city.  One side has sweeping views of Lunken and the other follows the curves of the great Ohio River.  We arrived on a day the clouds hung low with the crisp Summer sun dodging them like a quick game of peek-a-boo.  These five college bound friends laughed their way through a sweltering humidity in a sweet way.  Their interactions allowing one to see how genuine their love over one another.  Years together turned graduated and headed for college.  This bittersweet season hangs between the young girl in a prized twirly dress, catching lighting bugs on the breezes of Summer to a young lady lightly stepping from one side of the door to the other and into a great big world awaiting her greatness!  Jean de La Fontaine once said, "Rare as is true love, true friendship is rarer" ... I am sure these beauties, though they move beyond these days of friendship, understand their gift in each other and I don't think change, distance or adventure will change that.  I wish you beautiful ladies great success in your new endeavor, know that you are amazing and that this is only the beginning of something really beautiful! ~ B

Kentucky Charm ...

Kentucky Charm ...

Every once in awhile you meet a kid with a genuineness and hospitable way that has you thinking it impossible that he's just 18 ... that was the way with this guy.  This young man commanded the room with his glowing smile and kind charm.  In the short time we spent with him, I left impressed by his demeanor and stunned by his forward thinking from the way he greeted us as guests to the offer of something to drink while we were there ... Mom and Dad have managed to refine some intuitive and "others" centered focus with this guy.  A, I am confident that you will pave ways as you move forward into college and wish you many blessings on the way.  Thank you for allowing me a time, albeit it brief, to snap a few photos for the season's sake.

My Brown Eyed Beauty ...

My Brown Eyed Beauty ...

That moment you become a mother, everything you know ceases and you are set down a path of incomprehensible change.  From the minute this girl came screaming into my life my heart was changed and everything I never knew I would want was wrapped up tight in a teeny blanket.  With this shoot, my mind wandered to sitting back seat beside our new daughter on the long, windy roads of the Monterey Peninsula on our first drive home. My husband driving the slowest and most cautiously he ever had.  We smiled uncontrollably as we both sat in disbelief that she was ours, while holding back our complete and utter concern that we could parent her well.  I remember her teeny frame overwhelmed by what was to be her "coming home" outfit, although newborn in size, giant on her preemie body.  Her beautiful dark brown hair soft and silky upon her perfectly shaped head as the car lulled her into a sweet sleep.  I remember holding her tiny fingers between my own and gently rubbing the wrinkles of her palms.  I can recall the overwhelming feeling swelling in my heart; the pride and gratefulness that shown in tears streaming down my cheeks.  I had no idea that the days would pass too quickly and the moments singing songs inspired by a purple dinosaur would be days I would, all too soon, miss.  I would watch this babe of ours grow into a beautiful young lady, who would handle countless moves and change that would have even experts rattled with an inner determination that exuded grace.  Freezing time with her on what was a warm Spring night had my breath taken away like the first moment our eyes locked.  We wandered together, not photographer and client, but mother and daughter laughing, joking and talking life.  At one point as she stood near budding apple blossoms, I lowered my camera to look at her and my mind instantly drifted back, tears accruing, in movie motion, through the eighteen years God has gifted me with His beauty.  To think that He believed me worthy of sharing in the raising of this treasure blows my mind and to think that this treasure doesn't know just how priceless she is, even more confounding.  To say that it was my absolute privilege to take these photos of our girl at the end of her senior year in high school, is an understatement that I just do not have the right sentiment for.  This girl, a subtle, yet prodigious stamp of God's love in this world and of whom I am forever grateful! Isabella Faith, you are more than you know; courageous, kind and inspiring.  You are compassionate, curious and intelligent, beautiful inside and out and your Dad and I are couldn't be more proud.  Thank you for loving us when we've gotten it wrong and for your gratitude when we've gotten it right.   Thank you for your confidence in us, your respect of us and your unyielding positive attitude.  We love you more than you could possibly know and are both so excited to walk out this new chapter with you! Forever prayerful over your journeys and steps beautiful girl! ~ Mom & Dad

Green eyes & Gracefulness ...

Green eyes & Gracefulness ...

I arrived at this session a touch later than my norm due to a detour, so my senior and her Mom beat me there.  As I pulled into my space, I saw the two walking towards the car to meet me and I smiled, remembering how much I love what I do.  This senior carried herself with a natural grace enhanced only by her striking beauty.  We set about our direction and went to work walking in the midst of towering trees, listening to the crunch of heavy leaves beneath our feet.  The glow of Autumn's color complimented this beauty as if she was made for the season because with every spot we chose and every turn of light her large, green eyes shone like nobody's business and her smile glistened from ear to ear.  She and her beautiful Momma laughed together the entire time making this session one that put my senior at ease allowing me the opportunity to snap through beautiful candid moments and letting my lens see her so naturally.  She was easy to spend time with as we talked about family, friends, city and future.  It was clear to see the heart of this gal through her words and to learn that her level of kind and internal beauty is rare, just further explaining her outward beauty and charm.  Thank you two for allowing me the time to walk with you and to catch a glimpse of a sweet season for your family.  I genuinely enjoyed the evening with you two gorgeous ladies and loved laughing along side you as we strolled the center together.  Allowing me to capture these images is appreciated more than you know and I look forward to seeing what God has in store for you, K, as you walk like a beautiful light through this world! ~ B Gallery

Sweet Surprises around every corner ...

Sweet Surprises around every corner ...

Summer storms have always been an enjoyment.  Especially if at home, listening to the sound of crashing lightning and the echos of rain on the roof.  As a photographer, watching the percentages of digits rise or lower can be a real test of one's patience, and so it went with this session.  Friday, the prediction of weather volleyed around like a bee in a field of flowers.  This family and I opted to go with our date and ventured out to the beautiful Cincinnati Nature Center for what we hoped would be a beautiful night.  As I took the first shot below anticipating location, I could hear the rumble of thunder behind me.  And folks, this was the only shot I got.  The skies opened up and a disturbance began that had us seeking a new location in what appeared to be outside of the storm's path.  We drove through flooding roads, downed trees, hail and wind gusts that had rain blinding our path.  We never made it to the new location, but instead chose to try again the next night and I must say, we weren't disappointed.

We made our way to the spot above and were greeted by the sweet sounds of a young raccoon searching the mud for a tasty treat.  As we considered that a Momma might be present, we neared our spot hesitantly, while nodding acknowledgment of his space over ours.  As the little guy dined, he kept his eyes peeled on us, but we were swept away with the blunt button black of his teeny nose and the downy fur that lined his ears.  As we wandered other favorite spots, we listened to the sounds of a wedding reception, filling the atmosphere with music and laughter as they celebrated the start of a new life together.  This beautiful senior and her persevering Momma walked with me as we took in the sights and enjoyed the bright sun, reflecting on our experience the night prior, laughing that it was a session to remember.  As we rounded the corner to the playscape for the wee people of Cincinnati, we were face to face with the tender eyes of a spotted fawn wishing us a sweet salute with a simple curiosity of our business there, even granting us the divine pleasure of a photograph or two.  As we said goodbye to our new friend and continued our journey we were greeted by the white cotton of teeny tails of wee bunny babes as they bounced about the path in front of us and as we furthered our venture, hummingbirds danced together in the air above us.  We were enchanted by the critters that accompanied us on our outing, wondering if the world was offering a bit of an atonement for its behavior the night prior.  Around each bend, it seemed a new critter offering its own sweet apology.  It was no surprise when we came upon the pristine posture of a red tail hawk as he watched us nearing his position.  Sitting staunchly with pride just long enough as if to say, "I'll stand my ground just so that you may enjoy my beauty."  And with that he exited in supreme fashion as we witnessed his great wing span and a flawless retreat to the trees.

The great companionship of our furry and feathered friends had me feeling as if this session was written out for a fairy tale and believing that perhaps they were observing what I was as well....this beautiful senior had a natural genuineness that oozed about her as she softly spoke. Her smile reflected a sweet and serene confidence that would have eased a hardened person.   As the sun hung softly above us and the sky began to settle into a darkening blanket of clouds, that would soon offer a thundering applause to our finish, I was incredibly thankful for the experience and quietly delighted that this is my job.  Thank you, so much for allowing me the opportunity to pin time in this season for you guys.  It was absolutely a joy to wander those trails and share the experience.  ~ B

Beauty In and Out ...

Beauty In and Out ...

Walking a new place with this creative and talented beauty, who was full of laughs, fearless over water and free to run as she pleased, reminded me that although senior year creeps up in an instant and these kids will be off in no time, they are still sweet kids at heart.  I have no doubt that this tender-hearted, intelligent beaut will have great success as she carves a path uniquely hers in this great world! ~ B Gallery
